  1. Decent side but
    Take Becks out for Ronaldo.
Put Van Nistelrooy up top with Rooney.
Put scholes in next to Robson
And Ferdinand in next to Stam

Then you're full on beast mode

  2. God sky sports are lucky just for this video alone…. best video so far…. Keane is a legend and to hear how he is speaking about character…. the main point

  3. Roy talked about the character the most and football being priority irrespective of what else was happening around those players. At that time (even today) if you are at United, you definitely have players with skills and talent. It is how they keep their hunger for Trophies high and take responsibility when the game is not going their way.
Some of the current squad players won't put effort and drown easily in negative emotions even when the game is a draw. Maybe the low desire for glory due to hefty pay-check and long contracts made them think they can't be disposed of for putting less shift. Also, As Roy pointed out most of the players at his time at United were self-motivated for improvement rather than coaches asking them every day to train hard or work out the issues themselves. They just follow the training module and when something comes out of the syllabus, they choke.
I think the brilliant character is the most distinct feature of any big team that separates them from other teams because in terms of raw quality United had brilliant players then and even now but that mentality in the squad is missing.

  5. Can someone explain to me how on earth you could leave Paul Scholes out. He is right up there with the best players England have ever produced and for me the easiest decision of the 11 positions

  6. Great comments about Ince. Hell of a player. Hell of a competitor. Massive big game performer. A fighter and a winner. Don’t underestimate Incy. He picks on class and delivery. Same with Pallister- boss of a player.

  7. De Gea – Parker – RIO – Vidi – Evra – Keane – Scholes – Sharpe – Sheringham – Cantona – Van Nistelroy ** This team beats Roy's all day long.

  8. I love the Beckham comments those of us who watch the game unlike thos damn Americans who judge him on international level KNOW HOW GOOD THAT MAN was he wasn't a world beater but at what he could he was the best at at his time IMO

  9. No Roy, you choose between Robson and Ince (I agree Ince is underrated though), so you can play Scholes – Scholes is the first name on any Man Utd team sheet. I just can’t believe you left him out? Wow… Zidane said he was the best player he’d ever seen. Can’t leave out Scholes, my god man, what are you doing?!? Also Nicky Butt was always underrated. He was a top class holding player – maybe too soon for that type of player here. Now we have holding players but back then we didn’t really – it was always felt that Butt didn’t have enough going forward.
